Thread: Are you meant to wash off Duac Once Daily Gel?

You are correct. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, the gel is meant to be applied to your face after you wash and dry it (usually in the evening before bed) and left on without washing it off. The gel has benzoyl peroxide in it which is an ingredient that can actually bleach your clothing or pillowcases. It may be best to let the gel dry on your face before you lay down so that it doesn't bleach your pillowcase. Some other areas to avoid while applying DUAC gel is your mouth, eyes, and hair.

DUAC gel can be stored at room temperature (up to 77 degrees) for up to 2 months. After 2 months, I would advise you to throw away any unused gel and get a new prescription (either refill or new prescription from your doctor). This will help make sure that the medication is working at its best.
