I ate popcorn last night.
It seemed as though the popcorn scratched my tongue.
I gargled with hot salt water. It didn't come out.
This morning I looked and it seems like its a canker sore underneath my tongue.
I made an appointment to dentist monday.
Is there anything else I can do in the mean time?
It hurts.
its probably popcorn skin stuck in there. yum
Eat Funyuns.
hi, I am a Holistic Health Practitioner. Rinsing your mouth with salt water two to three times a day until you see a doctor/dentist. Stay away from spicy foods, eat yogurt and other soft foods. Maureen
Thats probably exactly what it is, a canker sore. I get these all the time and they clear up within a few days to a week. If you are prone to getting these I would say wait out the time it usually takes for it to clear up and if it is still there, then make a dental appointment. I'm pretty sure you don't want to go to the dentist and have them tell you the same thing for a fee. Unless they are nice enough to not charge you, I would advise to wait it out.
The Gum Rincinol P.R.N. Mouth Sore Rinse (links at a few retailers below) was what I used when I had a burn on the roof of my mouth and tongue. It doesn't numb but coats the area so that it is less sensitive. It also contains aloe which may help with healing of the tissue. It is what I often saw recommended to patients with chronic mouth sores at a clinic I did a clinical rotation at. Numbing sprays or gels that have benzocaine are really effective but only for a short time. They'll totally numb the sore but only last about 10 minutes tops so I'd recommend something like the rinse below instead.
I feel for you, cankers are the worst. There's a new pill I found that has really helped me (The Canker Spanker), you may want to check them out. TheCankerSpanker.com
