    intense night sweats?

i dont understand why i have these terrible night sweats, i wake up absolutely covered in sweat. i mean literally drenched, as if i had just had an intense work out. I've tried everything i can think of... sleeping naked (lol), using thinner bed spreads, drinking water before, after... but they happen between 3-5 times a night and i don't think they're caused by bad dreams, i just can't take it anymore. not being able to sleep is taking a major toll on me. what can i do? please help!

If you're under 35, you should see your gynecologist about hormone imbalance.
If you're over 35, you're probably experiencing pre-menopausal night sweats. Soy has been shown to help with this.

The post above is true- menopause and hormones can cause it but there are other causes of night sweats that can be very dangerous; particularly if you have other symptoms like you've been losing weight. You should absolutely go see a doctor immediately.

According to Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture theory, night sweats are a symptoms of chronic dehydration called "Yin Deficient Heat." Night time is time for rest and when heat is being unregulated by body fluids, then night sweets and hot flashes are possible.

Traditional herbal medicine formulas might include Liu Wei Di Huang Wan or if more severe it could be modified into Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan. Acupuncture has the ability to help regulate your imbalances and help with proper metabolism of water. Channels that could be used would be the foot and hand lesser yin channels (fire and water channels) as well as the hand lesser yang is responsible for the water passages and is also a fire channel.

Simply put, 1 month of herbs should regulate your imbalance. It should take 3-6 more months to relieve completely. You should be able to find a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) to diagnose and treat accordingly. There are alternatives to harsh medications and their side effects.
