Thread: How long would it take for me to get better after starting antibiotics?

I don't really know what I have. my head hurts I feel weak and I can't sleep at night. My doc gave me antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) I started them yesterday ( tuesday ) and I have a ski trip on fri. Do you think I will feel better by then? Don't tell me I shouldn't go cuz I have to...

No clue as no one here knows what you have either.

However, regardless of how you feel or if you go on the trip or not, continue to take the antibiotics until the end of the subscription. Failure to do so could lead to the creation of drug resistant infections and you do not want that.

i would think that once you have started taking them you will only get better and better by the day.
however if you start to get worse then there must be something wrong and you should go back to your doctor.
just make sure you complete the course of antibiotics even if you have to take them on holiday with you.

p.s. i am quite surprised that your doctor has given you antibiotics if he doesnt know what is wrong with you as they are usually reluctant to give them to patients because over use of antibiotics can make them ineffective

No, you don't have to nor should you while you're on antibiotics. You should begin to feel a bit better by Friday or Saturday and ready to go by Monday or Tuesday!.
