About a week ago, I was hit with a nasty ear and sinus infection, principally of my left ear / face. I was prescribed an antibiotic (Azithromycin) and the pain has subsided. However, I still feel a bit congested, and what concerns me is that my left ear hearing is really limited. My hearing out of my left ear is like there is a hand over the ear – very muffled and incoherent.
Is this normal? If so, when should my hearing come back?

Its not really normal. It sounds like you still have fluid in your ear. When you hear a deep base (vibration) what happens? If you can feel it(vibration) in your ear it is fluid.
But some infections can result in permanent hearing loss.
