How to protect your eyes while looking at computer screen for a long time?

Hi. I work an 8 hour a day job in an office 5 days a week. It has been about 4 months since I've been on this job. In recent weeks my I've been getting eye strains from staring at a computer screen for hours a day. Also my eyes feel dry so I have to blink a lot. I always take a 10 minute break after every 2 hours. What can I do to protect my eyes so I won't have to wear glasses later in my life? I don't want to have bad eyesight. Thanks in advance.

Take a 10 min break every hour.
Occasionally, look away from the screen at something farther away. The ceiling, the floor, the other side of your office, or out your office door are all good spots to focus for a few seconds.

Looking away from the screen periodically will help with the eye strain...there is no defense for the usually fluorescent lights though.
However, your eyes will change over the years naturally, and there is no way to avoid those changes or the probability of needing some kind of corrective lenses when you get older.
