Have a pulled my abdominal muscle?

I recently started doing sit ups to get toned and before that I never did exercise for around a year. But I dove in and did over 200 in about ten minutes ignoring when it tells you to build it up over time. That was yesterday, today it hurts around my abdominal area if I stand up or bend over or twist. I read the symptoms for a pulled abdominal but I have nothing like where it hurts to breathe or anything like that. Only pain when I stand up and sit down. Is it a pulled abdominal? Or something else? And should I stop doing sit ups until the pain has gone? Please help!

Give your body some time to rest if you jumped in that hard your going to be pretty sore for a few days but it will pass.

You have found out why they tell you to do warm up and stretching exercises Muscles are like plasticine or Blu Tac, needs warming up a bit before being stretched.

You have pulled a muscle that had not exercised in over a year. Take it easier next time, dont do 200 in 10 mins! Do not continue doing an exercise if it still causes you pain. Wait till the pain goes away and restart a lot easier. Use heat pads or hot water bottles over the affected area to assist healing. Heat encourages blood flow which helps repair the muscle.
