Would the NHS give me an x-ray even if nothing "appears" to look wrong with me?

A year ago or so I injured my hip (it happened while i was out running, practising sprinting).
At first i thought it was a sprain but when it didnt seem to be getting any better after two weeks i went to see my GP who only ask me to try moving my leg and based on that said it was a sprain and was not worth seeing a physiotherapist. I took her word for it and spent the next 5 months limping until it healed, or so i thought.

Everytime I attempt to go out for long runs/jogs, ill get up to about a mile and my hip starts to hurt so i stop before i do any damage.

Now I really want to get this sorted out but right now nothing appears to be wrong with me? can the NHS help me as i am now or do i have to go out on jogs until i have start limping again?
This isn't the first time my GP has done a half assed job, which is why i was wondering if there was any way around seeing her

It's really a discussion you should have having with your GP as it will be on her recommendation that you get an x-ray done so I'd suggest you book an appointment and tell her your concerns and the discomfort you're in.

Usually not if your perfectly fine as its a waste of their time and resources. However if your still in pain and you tell them that your still in pain and u don't think something is right and u want tests dont to find out what's wrong (be firm with this) then they probably will do an X-ray to rule out anything serious and find the cause. Make sure to emphasise that the physio has not helped and u know something is not right in your knee. They may do it to cover their own backs in case u sue! Or just go private?

If you are having persisting problems that are not being sorted by your G.P.. You should insist more on an MRI rather than an X-ray.. As Xrays are for bony injuries, as you are managing to run etc..it's unlikely to be bony. It could be something more more to do with tendons ligament injury. If no joy with gp.. There are walk in centres or last resort A.E.. Sometimes A.E can refer you to outpatients for not urgent MRI which is what I would recommend .

If your still suffering then go back to your doctor and tell him you want to be referred for an xray, if your doctor refuses then tell him you want to see someone else for a second opinion, you may feel ok in yourself but you dont know what damage its doing to your hip.
