Which type of doctor to see for shoulder injury?

Embarrassingly enough… in November 2011, I tried on a dress that was a bit snug on the upper part of my body. When taking off the dress over my head (which took me forever to do), I hurt my left shoulder. Three months later, my shoulder still hurts when I do various activities, such as reaching behind me, or certain movements/degrees when raising my arm to the front or side of my body. What kind of doctor should I see about this?

Go to your GP as it is not an emergency case. S/he will then probably refer you to a physiotherapist in the first instance, then either an orthopaedic consult or plain x-rays to look for other injuries if the physio is unrewarding.

Go to a GP first then ask for a referral to a sports medicine doctor!
