Thick green cattarh well after cold? Please answer!?

    Hi all,

I had a pretty nasty cold at the beginning of last week...I am working away at the moment and I feel kinda yucky still and I have ridiculous amounts of thick greeny yellow stuff building up in my nose...even more then I had during the cold. Its constant and endless! I'm not sneezing or anything, I thought I was over my cold. I also feel really tired. is this normal??

Thick green mucous is usually a sign of bacterial infection, whereas thick yellow mucus is usually a sign of viral infection.

You could have gotten a sinus infection while your immune system was compromised (very common, called "secondary infection"). If you start having any head pain with the green snot, you'll need to see a doctor to get treatment to kill off the infecting bacteria.

If you take a mucus-relieving treatment for a few days (over the counter, Mucinex and generic versions) you may be able to clear it up naturally. It will make it runnier and easier to get rid of. The less bacteria-laden goop in your head, the faster you can fight it off.
