I was standing next to our fireplace (its the gas type with glass) and my elbow bumped it. It stung, so I ran and put my elbow under cold water for about a minute. (This was like 15 minutes ago) But it still hurts and is pinkish! I don't know what to do, its not like it burnt skin off, but it still hurts.
Does anyone have any advice?
Get less clumsy.
Keep running it under cold water. Don't put ice directly on it.
Put a product called burn gel on it. It has Aloe Vera, tea tree oil and (the good stuff) lidocaine in it. It will cover the burn, it will help with the pain and it washes off with water. Do not use ICE. DO NOT put Face Cream on it and DO NOT put butter, vasaline or anything greasy on it. None of those work and in the case of Face cream and Ice they will do as much damage or more than the burn.
It will get better with time. If you can't get the Burn Gel put Aloe Vera at least on it. If it just stays red and does not blister it will heal pretty quick. If it blisters you will at some point have to cover it and keep it clean and dry. But do not pop the blister.
Cool to cold water will help some also.
