will nitrofur affect my blood sugars?

I am diabetic...and after taking nitrofur 100 mg, my blood sugars shot up to 258...which they are normally 125 to130...wasn't sure if it was the nitrofur or something else I should look at...

Nitrofur is an antibiotic. What may be happening is that the glucose levels are rising because of the infection not because of the antibiotic. It's common for glucose levels to rise when you are sick, you just have to monitor them every four hours and test for ketones. However, it's possible that some of the fillers used in the medication be sugar.
