Obesity is a growing (literally) issue. It's become more common, so diabetes is rising as well.
Poor diets, perhaps? Americans eating poorly, which leads to poor health.
That's just laziness asking people on here. i don't know what the answers are. I'd say people know more about it now they are better educated.
Also people are obese and that leads to diabetes, obesity is on the increase too
Better health screening today allows for more people to be diagnosed. There is much more awareness today about diabetes than there was a decade ago.
Modern society is to blame for the increase in T2 diabetes. We are not as physically active as we used to be, and the ease and availability of junk food has caused obesity in many people.
Poor lifestyle (lack of activity) Mid section (stomach) obesity has been attributed to Diabetes
Poor diet. More modern foods are high in sugar (and saturated fat,) overloading ability of Pancreas to produce Insulin to manage this excess sugar.
Changes in diagnostic standards, better access to health care, better and easier technologies to diagnose people, people living longer (most new diagnoses are over the age of 65, which is about 20 years old than the average person lived 150 years ago), etc.
