Diabetics can eat anything that any other person can eat. They just can't produce insulin which nullifies sugars/carbohydrates (carbohydrates is basically another word for sugar). Which mean they have to manually monitor their carbohydrate intakes by being extremely choosy of what goes in their mouth. And it's all around easier if they stick with foods that they know, instead of having to constantly keep track of carb. totals.

They also can't stop their sugar intake, because the body needs sugar. So, it's a constant balancing act between eating carbs, taking their medication, filling their stomach up with meats (meats generally have no carbs, and are high in protein), and burning sugars via exercise. Which is why they must test their blood levels constantly and multiple times a day. Otherwise, organs will start failing and limbs will be needing amputation.

Think of it this way.... diet coke has zero carbs. Candy bar has about the same amount of carbs as a Regular Coke. So, by switching to diet coke you can have your drink and eat your candy, too. That's generally the trade off that Diabetics deal with and search for. So, if that muscle drink is high in Carbs (and it probably loaded), it's going to have to take the place of something else; and that trade off will probably not be worth it.

Have you ever felt extremely weak? And had shaking hands? So, you eat something to make it all go away? That usually happens when you are low on sugar/carbs.
