Is pasta good fl or diabetics?
Pasta is all carbs which must be eaten in moderation if one is diabetic. Pasta, especially whole wheat pasta, can be incorporated into a diabetics diet by following the diet prescribed by the doctor.
It matters how YOUR body reacts to it.
Some people's BG spikes really high, and some people's don't. Just try it and see what happens.
And remember to count the carbohydrates correctly!
The glycemic index of pasta varies with it's shape ( the thicker it is, the lower the gi ) and how long it's cooked ( al-dente is best, don't overcook it ). Overall the gi ranges from 30 to 60 which isn't bad but it's still a carbohydrate so you have to consider it in your diet and in your insulin dose.
There's about one point in difference between whole wheat and not whole wheat, the idea that whole wheat is better for you is mostly a myth. It has to be wholegrain to make a difference.
