A general dentist please. I know others (like orthodonists) make a bigger sh*t load, but that's extremely boring.
1. What do you learn in dental school and how long is it?
2. What talents could convenience a dentist? (Good at science, hand-eye coordination, etc.)
3. Are there any perks to being a dentist compared to other jobs?
4. Any other tips?
I'm 14 btw, but I've wanted to be a dentist for a while. I love going to the dentist, taking care of my teeth, and I have a high tolerance for grossness.
Being a dentist you need to work in the same position for long hours and you might develop some musculoskeletal disorders. I recommend Pharmacy Dr. you make a lot of money without everyday stress and chance of getting infected.
Its easier to become a dentist than a doctor.
1. General physical sciences, normal oral development, dental diseases, dental care. (4 years of college plus 4 years of dental school but much of the 3rd year will be more hands on learning (though not usually actual patients at first, mostly labs, simulations, later cleaning and basic care on real patients) the 4th will be clinical training (observing more complex procedures, performing them on actual patients while under supervision).
2. Good at science, good hand control, good memory, patient, good with people, calmness, good at school (Admission is almost as competitive as medical schools) so your college grades need to be much better than average).
3. Steady demand (even when the economy is bad many people still manage to maintain at least basic dental care). Aging population will mean increased demand. Decent pay (though likely you will have high student debt). Some scholarships or loan forgiveness programs to offset the cost of your education if you agree to work in certain areas where dentists are badly needed (often rural and/or high poverty areas).
once you get older try working at a dental office, only then you will know if you really love it. in order to have a satisfaction in your work you really need to enjoy what you do. sounds like you may just like dentistry which is great. i am a dental hygienist and my job is not easy, if i didn;t love what I do I dont know if i still would work in this field.
