If you were a female who was going to become a nurse at a hospital that treats children and teenagers with cancer, and if you were going to give the children chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments and be around them so often, would you shave your head to make them feel more comfortable and just...well, in honor of them or something, I guess you could say. If you were willing to, would it be too werid, also? Just looking for opinions...thank you.
The teens, children and adults all understand and know others have hair, though they may be sad they don't have hair anymore for the moment, that is not their main focus. Their main focus is to get better, so they most likely wouldn't feel uncomfortable by you, their doctor having hair. If it makes you feel more comfortable though just wear your hair up.
I don't think that would make them feel more comfortable. It would be kind of creepy, actually.
That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard.
No I wouldn't.
No. People in cancer hospitals are staff or patients. People with no hair are patients. When my hair fell out it hurt, a LOT.
[If you were unfortunate enough to get cancer, that's different.]
I would ask for a different nurse.
No. It just brings attention to yourself. Kids receiving care from you would likely wonder what on earth was wrong with you that you had no hair. It is never "in honor" of cancer patients. Just please, don't do it. Keep your dignity. I wouldn't want you as my nurse. I want my nurses to be as normal as possible and not think they "know" what I'm going through, because you don't unless you've been through it yourself.
