Assuming the reason for frequent coughing or frequent sneezing is a respiratory infection (e.g. a cold, the flu) and not a worsening heart condition, or something else, zinc significantly reduces or stops frequent coughing and frequent sneezing long before the respiratory infection is cured.
The immune system’s battles with virulent bacteria and viruses and long battles with bacteria and viruses uses up more zinc than normal. One early zinc deficiency symptom is a cough coming from an itch or irritation in the lower part of the throat. Zinc deficiency can cause frequent coughing, chills, difficulty staying warm, and “irritability”. Both zinc deficiency and too much zinc will cause feeling full or bloated without reason, fatigue, and hunger without reason. Excess zinc can cause coughing.
Allergies that cause sneezing may increase zinc needs some, but using zinc to try to stop sneezing caused by allergies will very likely cause zinc overdosing.
